மநோஜவம் மாருத துல்ய வேகம்
ஜிதேந்த்ரியம் புத்திமதாம் வரிஷ்டம்
வாதாத்மஜம் வானரயூத முக்யம்
ஸ்ரீ ராமதூதம் சிரஸா நமாமி.

Hanuman jayanthi marks the birthday of sri anjaneyar though its celebrated on march or april in other parts of the country in tamilnadu hanuman jayanthi is celebrated on margazhi month,moola nakshtram coinciding with amavasa(no moon day)(16/12/09 wednesday of this year)hanuman the first devotee of lord sri rama, blessed with immense powers lord hanuman sacrificed him self to rama and won his love as Rama and Seetha permanently reside in hanuman's heart.

Thursdays and saturdays are auspicious for hanuman worship,a garland of betel leaves can also be offered to the lord(After the success in the war against ravana, seetha devi spotted hanuman in a beetel leaf garden when hanuman bowed to her feet seeking her blessings seeta devi plucked few betel leaves and showered on hanuman inorder to bless him, so the tradition is still followed), butter dressings(As a result of vigorous war hanuman had many cuts and bruises in his body, to give him a relief from the bruises butter is still applied on lord),senduram is also considered to be please the lord(once hanuman saw seetha devi applying seenduram on her forehead, when he asked reason for this, seetha devi said she does it for her husbands well being, hearing this hanuman applied senduram allover his body claiming for the well being of lord rama),vada malai(anjaneya loves the hard and crunchy vada so its offered for the lord).So on this day visit nearby Rama temple or hanuman temple and chant sree rama jeyam and seek the blessings of the lord.
